Color… fall is filled with it! Color is how we know the season has come and why we love it. The lack of color is how we know the season has bid us farewell and winter is fast approaching. Don’t get me wrong … the baron, gray horizon spotted with textured bark and wonderful stick branch trees is a beautiful sight … but, it definitely lacks color.
As color makes an exit from our outside world, why not have it make an entrance to our inside world? If your home is “colorless” think how exciting a new color palate would be! If your home is already full of color, think about providing a more neutral base and adding color with art, fabrics or flooring.
When we equate color and home, paint is the first thing that pops into our minds. Color can be a powerful force, and most of us view paint as color and nothing more. I will tell you that a paint color can bring emotion to life. Not only does the chosen color provoke emotion, but the finish of the paint can transform the feeling. Semi-gloss and high-gloss heighten drama, while matte finishes absorb light and bring a certain sense of calm.
Paint is a big part of home décor and is also one of the least expensive purchases. That being said, it has also been known to be one of the most difficult décor decisions for home owners because of the dramatic change it can evoke.
As the season changes, the holidays arrive, the pocket book tightens, and emotions cause havoc in your household … look to paint for answers! It can revive a “worn out” room; or it can brighten the inside of your home as the outside turns frigid and gray. But what paint can really do is just make you happy. It can be said that in the scheme of life … happiness comes from a vibrant canvas!
Happy painting … Enjoy!
